Early Years Foundation Stage
Thomas’s Kindergarten endeavour to ensure that all areas of pre-school education are met by following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) set out by the Department of Education. This became the statutory framework for all early years’ settings to follow in 2008, with a revised version being implemented in September 2012. For more information please click here.
Our play-based curriculum is based upon the four themes of the EYFS which are: A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments and Learning and Development. The areas of learning which are summarised below are divided into seven sections. There are three prime areas and four specific areas. Each of these has Early Learning Goals which children are expected to reach at the end of the Reception year when the EYFS finishes.
