Science

At Thomas’s we recognise the importance of Science and the role it plays in shaping our future. We have a curriculum that provides a strong base of knowledge and understanding in biology, chemistry and physics. This is gained through engaging activities including practical exploration and experimentation.

Being located in Kensington, with its world class scientific museums, provides us with a rich environment full of unique opportunities to explore Science in more depth and to understand its relevance. The Science Department also provides the opportunity for pupils to compete against other schools in external competitions.

Our aims are that pupils will:

Enjoy all aspects of Science, building on their natural sense of curiosity about the world around them.
Develop the scientific skills of observing, investigating, analysing and evaluating.
Build up a working knowledge of current scientific theory.
Learn to communicate scientific ideas and data effectively.
Develop critical and creative thinking skills.
