Physical Development

Physical development is an integral part of every child’s day at Thomas’s. The children have the opportunity to be active on a daily basis both formally and informally. They enjoy two fully supervised playtimes a day where they can run, climb, balance and build independently. Through specialist-taught gym, games and dance children develop their co-ordination, control and movement.

The stimulating and energetic activities which the children experience both indoors and outdoors contributes to confidence building and a general feeling of well-being. Twice a term Reception go off site for a morning of Woodland Adventure run by the Exploration Society. Here they have the freedom to explore and learn in the outdoor environment.

Children are taught to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy choices in relation to food.
