Annette Dobson is the founding Head of Thomas’s Fulham, having opened the school alongside Deputy Paul Wild in September 2005.
She grew up and went to school in Middlesbrough then to university in Cambridge, undertaking her Bachelor of Education (Hons) degree at Homerton College. Her first teaching post was at North Bridge House School, Hampstead. After three years she moved to teach Year 1 at Thomas’s Clapham becoming Head of Lower School, leading Reception, Years 1 & 2, a year later.
During her time at Thomas’s Clapham, Annette furthered her interest in Specific Learning Difficulties by completing a post graduate certificate in SpLD with Dyslexia Action. Her main study was in the teaching of phonics.
A particular source of pride for Annette is that she has recruited every member of staff to the school. They are a forward-thinking, energetic team.
The curriculum is constantly evolving and has a strong focus on metacognition.
Throughout the rapid growth of the school, the atmosphere of fun and purpose has remained; Miss Dobson encourages the whole school community to work hard and play hard and embrace change.
