Communication and Language
In a rich language environment children are encouraged to speak and listen in a range of situations; they communicate as they investigate and problem solve; they develop confidence and skills in expressing themselves and extend their social skills.
Teachers model rich language and encourage children to express their thoughts and ideas through conversation.
Children also take part in a specialist taught Language and Culture lesson once a week where they are given a wonderful introduction to a country, its language and traditions. For example, children learn about Portugal through song, dance, food tastings and stories.
“Show and Tell is so much fun. I always make something for it like a robot and then I get to tell all my friends and they listen!”
