Thomas's Clapham occupies a site between Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. It is a Grade II listed building, which was built between 1904 and 1908 to house the Clapham County Girls' School.
The facilities at Clapham have been developed for 21st Century learning, and extensive design work has been undertaken over the last three years to create bright, flexible classroom spaces, state of the art Science Laboratories, an iMac Computing Lab and a Music Technology space. A magnificent galleried Hall and a large Drama Studio play host to performances and talks throughout the year, and our Ballet room and Art, Pottery and Design Technology Centre provide outstanding facilities for expressive and creative arts. Children in Reception have purpose built classrooms, each with their own outdoor space, and the Reception block has its own Mud Kitchen area for creative and messy play.
The two-acre site affords ample playground space, four netball and tennis courts, cricket nets, football practice areas, a climbing wall and a large climbing area. A peaceful garden, Mindfulness Place, allows children space to relax and enjoy a quiet moment at playtime. Our newest play area, Dragon's Den, provides a creative space for children to explore, and includes a Hobbit house, castle, boat and spider web.
The school's home fields are the Richard Evans Memorial Playing Fields, Roehampton Vale, SW15 3PQ. Clapham Common and the Wandle Sports Centre are also used. Swimming lessons take place in local swimming pools. Weekly church services are held at St Luke's Church.
The majority of children attending Thomas's, Clapham live locally.
