Religious Education & Philosophy

Religious Education & Philosophy has increasingly incorporated some of the big philosophical questions concerning our identity and sense of belonging, the problem of evil and suffering and the arguments for the existence of God, as well as ethical dilemmas such as whether we should eat meat. This is linked closely with current affairs and allows children the space to question and link the study of religions to their own lives and experience. Children are presented with more than the six major world religions and are given the chance to explore minor religions and philosophies as well. The subject provides not only an opportunity for children to learn about the truth claims of different religions, but also about their own responses and reactions to these.
