Welcome

Welcome

Thomas’s Battersea is a vibrant, coeducational prep school for pupils aged 4-13. Children are encouraged to be curious, independent, and ambitious in their learning, while developing the resilience and confidence to embrace new challenges. Beyond the classroom, they enjoy a wide range of opportunities in competitive sport, the arts, and outdoor learning, enabling every pupil to explore their interests and discover new talents.

We take pride in preparing and nurturing our pupils, equipping them with the adaptability, empathy, and self-belief to grow into compassionate, confident, and responsible citizens of the world.

HEADS WELCOME

Rupert Hawkins

A very warm welcome to Thomas’s Battersea - a school of which the whole community and I are immensely proud.

As a school of excellence, we prepare pupils superbly both for the next stage of their education, and for their lives ahead of them. We do so with kindness at the heart of everything, and the broad curriculum encourages every child to find their something. High quality, creative teaching is the norm, and our outcomes are exceptional.

The result? We do not just produce great academics, athletes and artists; we produce great people, preparing them to be citizens of tomorrow - and we’re most proud of that.

I often speak about Thomas’s Battersea having soul. No website can fully show the true nature of a school, or do justice to the incredible community that is at work on a daily basis. I hope you will take the opportunity to visit us, and to see for yourselves what makes Thomas’s Battersea Prep School so special and so unique.

About Us

Discover more in our About Us section, where you will find the story of Thomas’s, a family-run group of co-educational independent schools giving more than 2,000 pupils aged 2-18 an exceptional start in life. Here you can explore our Aims, Vision and Values, learn about the history that has shaped Thomas’s, and see how our commitment to safeguarding, strong governance, and clear policies underpins everything we do. The journey begins in our early years provision, at Thomas’s Battersea Kindergarten, where we welcome children aged 2.5 to 4 years old as they take their first steps on an educational pathway that continues through Thomas’s Battersea.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is described as four dimensional as we focus on knowledge, skills, character and metacognition. Pupils develop the ability to think critically, collaborate creatively, and grow as confident learners. Alongside strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and science, pupils enjoy rich opportunities in the arts,  computing, languages, physical education and outdoor learning. From Reception right the way through the school, pupils are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, explore new ideas, and connect their learning to real-world contexts. Our learning excellence leads to academic success, which is measured in the progress each individual pupil makes, and in their outcomes.

Destinations, Offers and Awards

Each year, Thomas’s Battersea pupils move on to some of the UK’s top senior schools, often with scholarships and awards across academic, artistic, and sporting fields. Our 11+ Offers and our 13+ Leavers’ Destinations reports show a wide variety of schools and opportunities secured by our Year 6 and Year 8 pupils, reflecting the breadth of talent nurtured at our school.
