Understanding the World
Understanding the world involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.
The Reception classrooms, outdoor play area and our lessons at Holland Park Forest School, provide marvellous opportunities for exploration and discovery. Every morning our multi-sensory outside area is set up to link with in class lessons. One afternoon a week we participate in a carousel where the children are able to choose which activity they would like to try - Outside Play, Clay Crafts, Mad Science, Click It, Gym Cats, Creative Costumes and Funky Fingers – often on a common theme extending the children’s learning from the classroom.
We also welcome visitors to Reception and take the children out in the locality.
