Religious Education

Religious Education aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the six main religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Judaism. The subject actively promotes respect for all. It places specific emphasis on pupils valuing themselves and others and on the celebration of diversity in society through understanding similarities and differences.

RE encourages pupils to discuss their own opinions and beliefs and those of others. It offers opportunities for personal reflection and for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

RE seeks to foster pupils’ respect for and sensitivity towards others, particularly those whose faith and beliefs differ from their own. It not only celebrates diversity in society through understanding similarities and differences, but also provides opportunities for pupils to develop their own sense of identity and belonging
