Thomas's, Fulham

The school buildings are a total of 35,000 square feet and stand in a one acre site in Hugon Road facing South Park. They were built in 1892, and opened on 29th October 1894 as the Hugon Road School for one thousand two hundred boys and girls.

Since then the school buildings have been in constant educational use. Up to September 2004 they formed part of London Institute’s Chelsea College of Art and Design.

[image] Thomas's Fulham In October 2004 the buildings were sold and a long lease was granted to Thomas’s London Day Schools. Following a complete refurbishment programme, Thomas's Fulham opened in September 2005 as a local, co-educational, independent preparatory school for children of Hammersmith and Fulham. The school is anticipated to grow to a maximum of 400 children by 2012.

In addition to classrooms for the Lower and Preparatory Schools, there are specialist facilities for Art, Design Technology, Pottery; Ballet; Drama; ICT; Music; Music Practice; Science, together with a Gymnasium, Assembly Hall, Library and Kitchen. The school will make full use of South Park and local sporting amenities.

The Head – Miss Annette Dobson, B. Ed. (Hons), P.G. Cert. Dys.

[image] Headmistress of Thomas's, Fulham Miss Annette Dobson is the Head of Thomas’s, Fulham. Educated in the North East of England, Annette obtained her Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree from Homerton College, Cambridge University in 1992. After beginning her career as a class teacher at Northbridge House School in Hampstead, Annette joined Thomas’s in 1995.

For eight years to August 2005, Annette was Head of Lower School at Thomas’s, Clapham where she had responsibility for managing the education of two hundred and twenty children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. She was appointed Head of Thomas’s, Fulham from September 2005.

In common with our other preparatory schools early learning is in form groups and there is no setting or streaming.

Preparatory School

Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 - Age 7-11

In the Preparatory School pupils will be set for Maths, French and Latin. Children taking 13+ Common Entrance will have a choice of continuing at either Thomas’s, Battersea or Thomas’s, Clapham in Year 7 and Year 8. Return transport to either school will be supplied free of charge.

Admissions

[image] Thomas's, Fulham Eighty children will join Thomas's Fulham in Reception for September 2007. Interviews will take place in late January of the year of entry, and places will be offered to suitable children in February. Class sizes will be a maximum of 20 pupils. In September 2006, the school consists of 190 pupils in four Reception Classes, four Year One classes, one Year two class and one Year three class.

Children must be registered prior to being called for an interview. It is possible to transfer a previous registration, free of charge, from another Thomas's school to the new registration lists at Thomas's, Fulham. In order to do so please complete the Transfer Form and return it to the Registrar at Thomas's, Fulham. We ask that children be registered for entry at only one Thomas's school.
