Admissions Overview

Nicola Diggle, the Director of Admissions, would be delighted to talk you through our admissions process in person. Here is the basic information you need to know:

The majority of pupils are admitted into three Reception classes in the September following their fourth birthday. At the time of writing this year group comprises 60 pupils. Entry to other year groups at Thomas’s Battersea is dependent on places becoming available during the course of the academic year. Classes normally comprise 20 pupils.

Our aim is to admit to the school a balance of boys and girls regardless of race, religious views or physical ability.

We operate a selective entry procedure and give priority to siblings of current pupils. Our entrance assessments seek to ensure that the pupils selected will enjoy and benefit from the broad curriculum on offer.

All children must be registered with the school before being considered for a place. As places are oversubscribed we recommend early registration. We also recommend that children are registered with a number of other schools.

There is no automatic entry from Thomas’s Kindergarten to Reception at Thomas’s Battersea. The registration of any pupil attending the Kindergarten will, however, be placed on the Main Registration List for entry to Reception in the appropriate year, thus guaranteeing the offer of an entrance assessment when the time comes. More information about the Kindergarten may be found here.

A child may be registered by completing a Registration Form which can be downloaded here, and sending it to the school with payment of a fee of £100. A child may be registered at only one of the Thomas’s Schools. Registrations are accepted from birth. Nicola Diggle, the Director of Admissions, is responsible for all registrations and may be contacted on Tel: 020 7978 0621 and email:

Please do not register your child until you have spoken to Miss Diggle, who can give you information about registrations lists and places available as well as how to pay the registration fee.
